The age-old debate returns: is Game Pass good or bad for certain productions?

With its unconventional approach, its dreamlike atmospheres, and its continuous desire to experiment, Keeper has proven to be one of the most welcome video game surprises of 2025: we tell you in detail about the new work by Double Fine Productions in our review. The game was released three days ago on Xbox Series X|S and PC; at the moment there is no official sales data, but the first signs are not encouraging.

Steam's lack of interest in Keeper

In these first few days, Keeper has received just 139 user reviews on Steam, a very modest quantity (the most popular titles receive thousands in the same timeframe). Furthermore, according to SteamDB data, at launch the game had a peak of only 191 concurrent users, another worrying number. It can be assumed that sales were also modest: considering that it is a decidedly niche work offered at €29.99, this is understandable, but there is another factor to consider.

Game Pass: salvation or condemnation?

Keeper was released day one on the Xbox Game Pass catalog, and the usual arguments can be made: in favor, that the title came into contact with millions of potential players. Against, that making the title available on the service may have dissuaded some potential buyers. Being, as mentioned above, a niche work, Keeper would not have generated large sales numbers in any case, so perhaps this time the pros outweigh the cons. What do you think?
