Katsuhiro Harada Joins SNK: VS Studio Established

Two fighting game legends cross paths: this is how one could summarize the announcement made by SNK, a Japanese company expert in the genre (though currently controlled by a Saudi fund) and Katsuhiro Harada, the Japanese game designer famous for Tekken. After a lifetime spent within Bandai Namco, Harada decided last year to leave the company, without revealing his next moves… at least, until today.

What VS Studio Means

With a press release, SNK announced the establishment of its new studio, founded by Harada, which has been named VS Studio. The two consonants VS obviously refer to the "Versus" of beat 'em ups, but for Harada, they can be interpreted in other ways, such as "Visual Studio", "Visionary Standard", "Volition Shift", or "Vanguard Spirit". The letters thus encompass multiple meanings, connecting both tradition and modernity.

The goal of VS Studio will be to offer the best gaming experience, combining knowledge with technology. For now, no information has been shared about VS Studio's first work, but Harada founded this new entity very recently and is still looking for staff, so it's reasonable to assume that it will be a long time before we learn anything. However, we are ready to bet that it will be a fighting game.
