The American company Bungie is undergoing a process that will see it integrated into PlayStation Studios and is in a most delicate situation. We have already extensively documented the woes of Marathon, which was wisely delayed after a series of red flags, but it remains to be seen if it will overcome its uncertainties. Unfortunately, however, the studio's flagship title, Destiny 2, also seems to be doing rather poorly.

Destiny 2 is attracting less and less interest

As reported by Game Post, according to various sources (Steam.db and Poluparity.report), Destiny 2 currently has the lowest user base in its history. The title is in a transitional phase: after culminating with The Final Shape, Destiny 2 underwent major changes, which, however, do not seem to have piqued the interest of players, who are drifting away.

Bungie must hope that things improve with the major update Renegades, arriving in December. The current player count is even lower than what it was during Curse of Osiris, an expansion so poorly received that in early 2018 it brought the game very close to closure, as admitted by Bungie CEO, Justin Truman.
