How to Make a Killing: trailer for the black comedy starring Glen Powell
A modern reinterpretation of the 1949 film "Kind Hearts and Coronets"

A new black comedy is about to hit the big screen and could become one of the most interesting titles of 2026. How to Make a Killing, the new project written by John Patton Ford, reimagines the 1949 British classic Kind Hearts and Coronets in a modern key, a film considered a cornerstone of the genre and still celebrated by critics today. Taking on the legacy of Robert Hamer's film is a cast led by Glen Powell, alongside Margaret Qualley and Jessica Henwick.
The story revolves around Becket Redfellow, a young man raised far from the wealthy dynasty from which his mother had been excluded. Upon his mother's death, the protagonist is determined to reclaim the immense family fortune, even if it means getting his hands dirty.
A bloody climb to a billionaire fortune
The plot follows him as he executes a ruthless plan to eliminate, one by one, the seven relatives who separate him from the inheritance, in a series of incidents as elegant as they are lethal. In the background, two female figures further complicate his path: the devoted Ruth, who doesn't value money, and Julia, a past flame who embodies the irresistible allure of power.
Despite the setting linked to American high society, filming took place in Cape Town, transformed for the occasion into the luxurious settings of the Redfellows. Enthusiastically received after the trailer, the film will arrive in US theaters on February 20, 2026, distributed by A24. With a mix of black humor, social commentary, and top-tier performances, it could be one of the year's surprises.
