GOG co-founder buys platform, no longer part of CD Projekt

Micha Kiciski, one of the co-founders of CD Projekt Red, has purchased the GOG platform, or Good Old Gaming if you prefer, from the Polish developer. Kiciski was also a co-founder of GOG. The online store, specializing in the sale (and occasional restoration) of old PC classics, will now operate independently from the studio that created The Witcher, with the aim of maintaining freedom, independence, and control (by players).

So what changes? Nothing, at least according to the dedicated post on the official website. CD Projekt will focus on developing high-profile role-playing games, while GOG will continue its mission to preserve past gems and allow players to always have access to them in the years to come.

New CD Projekt titles will be regularly released on the platform, users will still be able to download installers for their purchases, all funds invested by Patrons will remain exclusive to GOG, no data will be shared, no games will be removed from the shelves, GOG Galaxy will still be optional, and there is no trace of DRM on the horizon. A change of reins that seems to entail nothing but strengthening the spirit of a project that has been going on since 2007. We can only wish them good luck.
