Releasing on Steam is an almost essential condition for a video game that wants to achieve significant sales on PC, because the vast majority of PC game purchases go through Valve's store. Choosing to ignore Steam therefore means jeopardizing a significant portion of sales, but some have done so after entering into a commercial agreement with the main "competitor", Epic Games Store, which in an attempt to close the gap tries to invest in heavy exclusives.

Lords of the Fallen II might be released on Steam

One of these exclusives was supposed to be Lords of the Fallen II, the anticipated dark fantasy soulslike. However, the Polish financial website Bankier.pl reports that developer CI Games (also Polish) has dissolved a binding agreement that had been stipulated with Epic Games two years ago. With this act, CI Games has freed itself from an obligation with Epic Games that is not specified, but it is easy to deduce that it concerns the exclusivity of Lords of the Fallen II.

Lords of the Fallen II is set centuries after the first installment. The darkness of Umbral has now swallowed the entire world, except for a kingdom that was protected by an ancient power. Now, however, that power has waned, so humanity is on the brink of collapse… CI Games' new soulslike will be released in 2026: confirmed platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Epic Games Store, but Steam may also be added soon.
