Disney+ Unveils First Trailer for The Hand That Rocks the Cradle Remake

Some stories return to haunt new generations, and in the case of the thriller genre, this is always a good sign. Disney+ has just released the first trailer for The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, a reboot of the notable '90s psychological cult classic.

This time, the protagonist is Maika Monroe (Longlegs), playing Polly Murphy, an apparently perfect nanny hired by Claire and Miguel Morales (Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Raúl Castillo). Behind her reassuring facade hides a dark secret that threatens to destroy the family from within.

Remake of the Successful 1992 Thriller

Directing is Michelle Garza Cervera, acclaimed for Huesera, while the screenplay is penned by Micah Bloomberg (Sanctuary). A creative team that promises to update the fears of the 1992 classic, directed by Curtis Hanson, making them even more disturbing for today's audience.

The original film starring Rebecca De Mornay was a surprising success, grossing $88 million against a small budget and cementing its star's status. Today, De Mornay herself blesses the remake, calling it a tribute that brings the story to new generations. The debut is set for Disney+ on October 22, just in time for Halloween.
