Copilot for Gaming Has Been Cut by Microsoft
Xbox decides to forgo the AI assistant for gamers

The handover from Phil Spencer to Asha Sharma marks the beginning of a renewal for Microsoft's gaming ecosystem. With a new CEO at Xbox, it's easy to predict that we will see important changes, such as the price reduction of Game Pass Ultimate last April. This evening, starting at 9:00 PM, we will discuss Xbox's new direction in a special event.
Copilot no longer helps gamers
In March 2025, Microsoft had anticipated Copilot for Gaming, a version of its chatbot designed specifically to assist users in case of need during a gaming session: on paper, it was supposed to be an artificial intelligence capable of dispensing useful advice, characterized by a deep understanding of video games, access to updated and detailed information, and very limited invasiveness.
"On paper," that is, because in practice the plans have changed. The announcement was made by Asha Sharma herself, who entrusted an unequivocal message to a Twitter/X post: features that do not align with Xbox's new direction will be cut. Sharma therefore explains that the development of Copilot on mobile devices will be brought to a close, while its development on consoles will be discontinued.
Xbox needs to move faster, deepen our connection with the community, and address friction for both players and developers.
