After risking losing Taylor Sheridan, the author who redefined action storytelling with Sicario and Yellowstone, Paramount has brought him back to the team for a high-stakes mission: to write the screenplay for the first film based on the first-person shooter Call of Duty. Peter Berg, an expert in tension and wartime realism thanks to titles like Lone Survivor and Mile 22, will be directing.

The Studio's objective is clear: to replicate the winning model of Top Gun: Maverick by combining spectacle, emotion, and technical authenticity. And who better than Sheridan to give moral depth to a world dominated by fire and strategy? The Texan screenwriter has always portrayed war as an ethical labyrinth, where there are no pure heroes nor clear boundaries between good and evil — the same ambiguity that defines the Call of Duty universe.

From Sicario to Call of Duty, a delicate step

The connection between the video game and Sicario seems evident: desert landscapes, undercover operations, and even characters who share names and attitudes. It's no surprise then that some missions in Modern Warfare II echo the 2015 film.

With Sheridan at the pen and Berg behind the camera, Call of Duty promises to go beyond the adrenaline of bullets, transforming digital warfare into a human drama where every choice can be fatal. Paramount is aiming for the absolute top, and with a video game franchise of such a high level, one must hope that the shot truly hits its mark.
