July 22, 2026 - Audible, an Amazon company and a leading player in the production and distribution of quality audio entertainment (audiobooks, podcasts, and audio series), today announces the arrival of a new adaptation of Dracula: an Audible Original that reinterprets Bram Stoker's unsettling psychological thriller as an immersive audio experience with an ensemble cast.
Available globally, Dracula will be adapted into English, Castilian Spanish, French, German, Italian, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese, with an exceptional cast for each version.

The English-language production stars Jonathan Bailey (Wicked) as Dracula, Ella Purnell (Fallout) as Mina, Aimee Lou Wood (The White Lotus) as Lucy, Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes) as Jonathan, David Jonsson (Industry) as Dr. Seward, Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) as Mrs. Westenra, Johnny Flynn (Ripley) as Renfield, Francis Lovehall (A Thousand Blows) as Arthur, and Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight) as Professor Van Helsing.

The Italian version stars Riccardo Scamarcio (Three Floors) and Benedetta Porcaroli (The Abduction of Arabella) as Dracula and Mina. Joining them are Laura Romano (Downton Abbey) as Professor Van Helsing, Gabriele Sabatini (Eddington) as Dr. Seward, Flavio Aquilone (Slumdog Millionaire) as Jonathan Harker, Sara Labidi (Game of Thrones) as Lucy, Alessandro Quarta (Dead Poets Society) as Renfield, and Angiola Baggi (Donnie Darko) as Mrs. Westenra. The Italian version is directed by Georgia Lepore (The Perfect Man).

Leading the international casts in the roles of Dracula and Mina are respectively Omar Sy and Deva Cassel (French); Matthias Schweighöfer and Jeanne Goursaud (German); Asier Etxeandia and Claudia Salas (Castilian); José María De Tavira and Esmeralda Pimentel (Latin American Spanish). Each production features an ensemble cast.

Aurelie de Troyer, Head of Audible Content, International, stated: "This is what Audible does best: creating immersive audio experiences that transport listeners into the heart of the story. When Dracula whispers in your ear and you hear his footsteps in the dark without seeing any reflection, you understand why Audible is the ideal home for this story. Our production enhances the psychological thriller that underpins Dracula, with the conflict between Mina and Dracula at its core." She adds: "We have brought together international-level casts in seven languages, from Jonathan Bailey and Ella Purnell to Omar Sy, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Matthias Schweighöfer, to bring a truly global Dracula to life. With direction by Mary Lambert and an evocative soundtrack composed by Ilan Eshkeri, we have brought this ambitious production to life just in time for Halloween."

Award-winning director Mary Lambert, known for the horror cult classic Pet Sematary, makes her audio production directorial debut with this project. The adaptation is penned by young screenwriter Robyn Ahern, winner of the Bisha K. Ali Screenwriters Fellowship, in her first project as lead writer. It is enriched by an original soundtrack by Ilan Eshkeri (Audible's 1984 and House of Guinness) and fully immersive sound design.

The Audible Original audio series Dracula will be available exclusively on Audible on the following dates:

  • October 1, 2026: English, French, Italian, Castilian Spanish, Latin American Spanish
  • February 9, 2027: German
  • 2027: Brazilian Portuguese

Dracula joins the list of critically acclaimed Audible Originals, which includes the audio series Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and 1984 by George Orwell.

But it will be Mina, with her intelligence, determination, and ability to connect seemingly invisible clues, who can stop the ancient predator—that is, if he hasn't already found a way to insinuate himself into her mind.
