Assassin's Creed, as you probably know, is a series that has recently found itself decapitated of its leadership: Marc-Alexis Côté, after twenty years at the helm of the franchise, left Ubisoft shortly before the launch of Assassin's Creed Shadows – in a very tumultuous manner and with an ongoing lawsuit – and since then, work has been adrift.

Now it seems that Ubisoft has found a solution by entrusting the future of the series to three veterans of the franchise, people who have worked on highly acclaimed titles such as Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin's Creed Origins, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

The first of the three names is Martin Schelling, who will serve as head of brand at Vantage Studios, the team assembled in collaboration with Tencent. He will be responsible for the overall strategy and long-term vision of the saga, with previous experience dating back to Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

Working alongside him will be François de Billy as head of production. De Billy began his collaboration with the brand as far back as Assassin's Creed II and was the lead producer for the three aforementioned titles.

Finally, Jean Guesdon has been appointed head of content, meaning creative director for specific games. Guesdon had left Ubisoft in 2023 to join Behaviour Interactive but has returned to the fold to take back the Assassin's saga.

In a period of major cancellations, closures, layoffs, and embarrassing appointments, seeing familiar names return to franchises where they have prior experience can be considered a substantially encouraging piece of news. We wish all three good luck in their work, hoping that Assassin's Creed can continue [or return] to churning out great titles.
