At New York Comic Con 2025, actress Sigourney Weaver hinted that she might return as Ellen Ripley, the legendary protagonist of the Alien saga. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress revealed that Walter Hill — the series' longtime producer — has already written 50 pages of a new treatment dedicated to her character, and that she herself has met with Disney and 20th Century Studios executives to discuss it.

"Walter imagined where Ripley would be today, and what he wrote is incredibly authentic," Weaver said. "I don't know if it will happen, but the story is about a woman who becomes a problem for trying to help humanity. It's powerful and very true to the spirit of the character."

One Resurrection After Another

After almost thirty years since Alien: Resurrection, Ripley's possible return sparks fan curiosity. However, it wouldn't be a simple nostalgia operation: the new project seems to aim for a more reflective tone, exploring the cost of survival and solitude.

With recent productions like Alien: Romulus and the series Alien: Earth, the saga continues to reinvent itself. But if Sigourney Weaver were truly to return, the Alien universe would rediscover its most authentic soul — that of the woman who proved it's possible to win even in space, where no one can hear you scream.
