2XKO Already in Crisis: Riot Games Lays Off Half the Studio!
The project has been seriously downsized less than a month after launch

2XKO is a 2v2 team-based fighting game set in the League of Legends universe. It's a free-to-play title with microtransactions, published by Riot Games on January 20 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Despite being on the market for less than a month, this video game project has already suffered a serious setback, which will unfortunately jeopardize its future.
Riot Games Lays Off 80 Employees
With a message on its official website, Riot Games announced that it has reduced the staff working on 2XKO. The reason given is that the game's launch went below expectations, so the team's size is no longer considered sustainable. Regarding the extent of the cuts, Game Developer reports that Riot laid off a staggering 80 employees, which is about half of the 2XKO studio members. Those affected are being assisted with a redeployment program: if they don't find employment, Riot will financially support them for at least 6 months.
