After being suspended in limbo for over a decade, 1666: Amsterdam surprisingly reappeared with the announcement shared during the Summer Game Fest. This title will be a third-person action/adventure, set in the 17th-century Dutch city: to help us get to know it better, developer Panache Digital Games has prepared a series of in-depth videos.

The 1666: Amsterdam Devlog

In the first of these videos, we find the project's author, Canadian game designer Patrice Désilets, who, along with Jean-François Boivin (executive producer), Éléa Gadéa (researcher and marketing coordinator), and Maxime Fortin (senior level designer), explains how the city of Amsterdam was recreated. This process involved not just research, but a deep immersion in the atmosphere of the place to fully understand it.

The video also focuses on a central gameplay element: exploration, showing us how players will enter various houses and the peculiar… feline approach that can be adopted. We remind you that 1666: Amsterdam will be released in 2026 on PC, via Steam and Epic Games Store, in early access.
