Wild Horse Nine – The trailer for McDonagh's return
The year of the coup in Chile, the year of the end of democratic freedoms

Martin McDonagh's new project is finally a reality. The Oscar-winning director and author of works such as The Banshees of Inisherin returns to cinemas with Wild Horse Nine, for which Searchlight Pictures has released the first official trailer.
Set in Chile in 1973, the film follows two CIA agents grappling with a far-from-straightforward mission, amidst political tensions and personal conflicts. The protagonists are John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell, the central pair in a story that blends sharp irony and moral ambiguity, now distinctive elements of McDonagh's cinema.

Alongside them is a high-profile ensemble cast including Steve Buscemi, Parker Posey, and Tom Waits(!). Judging by the first images, the tone recalls the fast pace and sharp dialogue already seen in the director's previous works.
Partially filmed in Rapa Nui (Easter Island), the film aims to combine historical context and personal dynamics, fitting into the genre of more sophisticated dark comedies. Early reactions are already speaking of a possible candidate for awards season.
The US release is set for November 6, 2026, exclusively in theaters. We await to see if a work of this caliber will also be released on the big screen here.
