Weeks after its release, the Supergirl trailer continues to be a talking point among DC fans and reignite expectations for the new cinematic universe built by James Gunn.

The footage immediately struck viewers with its very different tone compared to previous incarnations of the character. The Kara Zor-El portrayed by Milly Alcock appears more aggressive, impulsive, and marked by the trauma experienced on Krypton, a far cry from the brighter, more reassuring image often associated with "Superman's cousin."

A Grittier Supergirl, Less of a Classic Heroine

The teaser glimpses space battles, the dangerous Sklarian Raiders, and especially Krem of the Yellow Hills, one of the story's main antagonists. But much of the attention was also captured by Jason Momoa as Lobo, a character who seems perfect for the film's wilder, more chaotic tone.

According to Milly Alcock herself, the work will not be built solely around action or classic superhero imagery. The heart of the story is expected to be Kara's emotional journey and her relationship with Ruthye Mary Knolle, a central figure in the protagonist's personal journey.

With an Italian release scheduled for June 25, 2026, Supergirl remains one of the most closely watched projects in the new DC phase, especially for its clear intention to distance Kara from Superman from the very narrative and character foundations.
