Star Wars - The Original - Coming Back in 4K?
The leak of what might accompany the anniversary

Star Wars, even the Ewoks know it, debuted in cinemas in 1977: at the time, it didn't even feature the subtitle Episode IV: A New Hope on its posters, so much so that the title was translated into various languages, including the Italian Guerre Stellari.
Now that the 50th Anniversary of the film that kicked off one of the most beloved, long-running, and intricate sagas is fast approaching, Disney - owner of Lucasfilm and thus the rights - has already announced plans for a theatrical re-release of the film. Over the years, however, several variations and cuts of the film have been released [Does Han shoot first? Second? Together?] and many have wondered which version will arrive in cinemas for the anniversary.
Many hope to see the original Theatrical Cut again [Han shoots - period] but the most serious problem with the 1977 version is that it has not been released since the 2006 laserdisc edition, where it was present as special content and in decidedly suboptimal quality.
Star Wars and the 4K Remaster Leak
That said, in recent days, rumors have begun to circulate online that Disney has commissioned a 4K remastered edition of the Theatrical Cut of Star Wars. This would also be a meticulously executed job starting from the original negatives of the film and with the intention of preserving the original grain and color gradations - a technology, we imagine, similar to that used for the creation of Jurassic World: Dominion.
In support of this rumor, it seems that video clips and screenshots have also appeared online, but since this material is copyrighted, our colleagues at Kotaku report that it has all been removed.
Obviously, we cannot know how much truth there is in these leaks, nor whether this edition will be destined for cinemas for the 2027 anniversary. We will probably find out in about a year or so...
