Stage Tour: The New Guitar Hero Arrives
The announcement trailer from RedOctane
Stage Tour is the title of the new game from RedOctane Games, a team that, we remind you, is headed by Charles Huang and includes several veterans of the Guitar Hero series.
The announcement had been rumored for some time but arrived during the IGN Fan Fest 2026: the game is, of course, once again a Rhythm-Game with very aggressive tones, with a focus on the hardest and rawest metal. "We showed the world how a guitar-shaped controller could completely change the way people approached music games," Huang said in 2005.
"Stage Tour is our love letter to Rhythm-Games - declares Simon Ebejer, head of RedOctane - We want Stage Tour to feel familiar and authentic, but also fresh, using modern technologies to connect players to the music they love and enjoying a platform that evolves and grows over time. With new instruments and a transcription system, we are raising the bar on what we believe a Rhythm-Game should be, also catering to those who simply want to enjoy a casual and relaxing experience."
In recent months, RedOctane has helped develop a new guitar controller that can be used on Fortnite Festival, Rock Band series games, and Clone Hero: it is clear that this controller is at the heart of Stage Tour, but as Ebejer's statements indicate, new peripherals will also arrive. In any case, the new game should also be approachable with traditional controllers, including the PC keyboard.
Stage Tour is scheduled for release in Autumn 2026 on PC and "a wide range of consoles" - we can therefore hypothesize PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, but the previous generation cannot be ruled out either.
