Hivemind, the next nightmare arrives flying
Directed by Ciarán Foy, the film starts from a scenario that is anything but reassuring
Samara Weaving and Nicholas Braun will star in Hivemind, an environmental thriller with horror elements currently in production in Ireland. Directed by Ciarán Foy, the film starts from a scenario that is anything but reassuring: the evolution of a lethal species of wasps that risks turning into a global epidemic.
The screenplay is by Peter Gaffney and has attracted the attention of Badlands, the label born from the collaboration between Thunder Road and Scott Strauss. Now the project has entered the Amazon MGM Studios catalog, which will distribute the film internationally through Prime Video.
When nature decides to change the rules
The story begins in a small community grappling with the new threat that is rapidly growing beyond the city limits. It will be up to local authorities to try to stop the spread of the insects before the situation gets completely out of hand.
For Weaving, this is another project that looks to genre cinema after Ready or Not, while Braun comes from Succession and Dream Scenario. Directing is Foy, already the director of Sinister 2 and Eli. Filming is already underway in Dublin and new cast details may emerge in the coming weeks. At the moment, no release date on Prime Video has been announced yet.
