Saros Shows Us Its Mysteries in the Launch Trailer
Arjun's journey on the planet Carcosa will begin in one week
Sony and Housemarque have shared the launch trailer for Saros, ahead of its release in one week, on April 30, 2026, as an absolute exclusive on PlayStation 5. The video opens with the character Stack painting some images that are imprinted in his mind, and this is not the only mysterious element: later we see the protagonist Arjun wandering in a London alley and a hotel corridor, liminal spaces whose meaning we do not yet know.
The sci-fi setting of Saros will therefore be enriched by a narrative characterized by twists and turns. The launch trailer obviously also features action sequences: Housemarque captures Arjun wielding two weapons from the planet Carcosa, the chakram and the Illumine energy beam weapon. The Finnish developer took the opportunity to talk about some of the game's features.
Carcosa Modifiers
With Carcosa modifiers, the Saros experience can be made easier or more difficult, depending on personal abilities and needs. As the PlayStation blog explains, if you want to make Arjun's journey easier, for example, you can use Damage Boost, which, as the name suggests, increases damage dealt to enemies. Or there's Energy Boost, which prevents the shield from consuming energy, leaving more for projectiles.
Or again, thanks to Supreme Recovery, armor integrity returns to maximum when facing one of Carcosa's Supremes. If, on the other hand, you intend to make Arjun's journey more arduous, you can use Weapon Deterioration, which degrades the main weapon with use, or the Enemy Death Projectiles modifier, or even Growth Hindrances, which remove Second Chance or armor matrix power-ups.
Saros Accessibility
With Saros, Housemarque has set itself the goal of making the title more accessible than the studio's previous work, Returnal: to this end, some adjustments have been made, such as a visual mode for colorblind players that allows projectiles to be clearly distinguished, a dialogue focus function, a control remapping function, and more.
