Rules of Engagement: The Grey State, free-to-play FPS announced by Grey State Studio
An extraction shooter set in the unsettling "Horrorverse"

Grey State Studio, a subsidiary of Tencent Games, has announced Rules of Engagement: The Grey State. This is a PvPvE tactical FPS with RPG elements set in what the developers call the "Horrorverse," a melting pot where iconic monsters from films, books, creepypastas, and any other source you can think of coexist. The objective of the Strider teams is to retrieve a particular artifact, the Vertex, and escape before time runs out, so it's likely the title will adopt extraction shooter-style mechanics.
Rules of Engagement: The Grey State will be free-to-play and limited to cosmetic item purchases, without pay-to-win dynamics (or so it seems). Its debut is scheduled for 2026 on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, with an alpha playtest in between, which will allow players to try out three game classes: Sledge (tank), Pyro (area damage), and Phantom (stealth). Here are the cinematic announcement trailer and a gameplay video.
