Marvel's Wolverine: The Adrenaline-Pumping State of Play Trailer

The honor of opening June's State of Play went to Insomniac Games' highly anticipated new title: Marvel's Wolverine. The trailer offered a first look at a gameplay sequence where the protagonist is intent on rescuing a group of young mutants who have been kidnapped by a group of cybernetically enhanced mercenaries. Wolverine isn't alone, as another old X-Men acquaintance joins him in battle.

A More Violent Wolverine Than Ever

The first thing to note about the trailer is its extremely high level of violence. Wolverine fights with blades that pierce through everything they encounter, a concept that remains ever-present: rivers of blood, mutilations, every enemy perishes in a brutal fashion, be it man or woman. Insomniac's message seems clear: this is Wolverine, we have no intention of sugarcoating him, take it or leave it.

Wolverine's Taste for Spectacle

The second aspect to focus on is the high adrenaline level of the scenes. This video game will feature cinematic sequences, and Wolverine doesn't seem to disdain action movie-worthy acrobatics: violence, yes, but always spectacular and with the pedal to the metal. Marvel's Wolverine will be released on September 15, 2026, exclusively on PlayStation 5.
