God of War Laufey: The Big State of Play Announcement

Sony could hardly have concluded the main State of Play of the year in a more epic fashion: not only was the new installment of one of the house's main series announced, developed by one of its leading first-party studios, but a long look at the game's gameplay was also offered, with the promise that it will arrive soon, naturally only on PlayStation 5.

First Contact with the New God of War

In God of War Laufey, Kratos leaves the stage to his second wife, Atreus's mother: Laufey, also known as Faye (portrayed by actress Deborah Ann Woll). The consort of the mythical Greek hero has passed away; in fact, the long gameplay trailer opens with Kratos laying her body to rest. Death, however, is only the beginning for Laufey, who awakens in a mysterious place. It will soon be discovered that it is the afterlife, where evil deities belonging to various pantheons vie for power.

Kratos and Atreus are in serious danger, and it is up to Laufey to save them. How? This is still a God of War game, so the answer can only be one: by fighting. The gameplay trailer gives us an idea of the protagonist's adopted style, which is based on great agility. Santa Monica has drawn from the experiences of previous titles in the saga to once again create brutal and spectacular battles. What was shown should only be a small part of what God of War Laufey will be; we truly hope it comes out soon.
