ROG Xbox Ally Starts Strong, with Prices Set by Asus
The new portables debuted with a strong sell-out

ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are the two portable gaming devices born from the collaboration between Microsoft and Asus, available since last October 16. The IT giant relied on an experienced partner to enter the portable gaming segment: Asus provided not only the hardware, but also the expertise, and things at launch seem to have gone well.
Sarah Bond Talks About ROG Xbox Ally
Speaking to Variety, Xbox President Sarah Bond commented very positively on the devices' launch. According to Bond, the public's response to the two ROG Xbox Ally devices was better than expected: on the Xbox online store, the two new products were sold out and also sold "very quickly" in various parts of the world.
Asus Set the Prices for ROG Xbox Ally
Bond added that, with the two devices, Xbox wanted to give players a choice, with an option also for those who desire the latest in technology (the X version). ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are not exactly cheap: the prices are €599 and €899 respectively (which in the USA become $599 and $999), a choice that caused some discussion, but which was made by Asus and not by Microsoft.
Bond explained that Asus based its decision on its market knowledge and determined the prices based on parameters such as the features offered by the devices and the needs of the public. Considering the excellent initial sales, it would seem that Asus's decisions... paid off, if you'll pardon the expression. Rather, if you don't yet know these new devices but want to learn more, there's this special that's right for you.
