Robert Redford Farewell: The Actor and Activist Has Passed Away
He was 89 years old

The world of cinema was shaken a few minutes ago by the confirmation of the passing of the celebrated Robert Redford. The great actor and director, also active in various naturalist initiatives, passed away during the night, in his sleep.
Redford, who was 89 years old, debuted in War Hunt in 1962, but his resume includes over 40 films as an actor: among others, Barefoot in the Park, The Sting, The Great Gatsby, All the President's Men, Out of Africa, Havana, Indecent Proposal, up to his last appearance in 2019 in Avengers: Endgame, where he reprised in a cameo the role he had already played in Captain America: Winter Soldier.
Considered a kind of "anti-star", Redford insisted that his films always have a social weight beyond the mere profit of the film industry. In addition to being an actor, he earned respect as a director, helming Ordinary People, which also earned him an Academy Award in 1982, The Milagro Beanfield War, The Horse Whisperer, up to The Company You Keep. Another Academy Honorary Award was presented to him in 2002.
To his daughters Shauna and Amy [two other children passed away at a young age] go all our condolences.
