Reacher, Neagley Hides a Clue About Tripwire?

The first season of Neagley might contain a reference intended to intrigue Lee Child readers. In the eighth and final episode titled Touched, Jack Reacher meets Frances Neagley for a commemoration. When she asks him where he was, he mentions Missouri and then St. Louis: a geographical detail that could have a specific meaning.

Reacher's past might hold surprises

The city is, in fact, linked to the events of Tripwire, one of the novels in the literary saga. This gives rise to the hypothesis that part of the book's story may have already unfolded off-screen, prior to the events shown in the spin-off.

In Tripwire, Reacher is in Key West and becomes involved in the investigation into the death of a private investigator. The story leads him to reunite with Jodie Garber, daughter of Leon, his former commander, while in the background, a man who has appropriated the identity of a soldier killed in Vietnam emerges.

The reference to St. Louis in Neagley does not confirm that these events have already occurred in the television continuity, but it could be a clue inserted for fans of the novels. If the series had indeed anticipated part of Tripwire, a possible encounter with Jodie Garber might have already been set up. For now, it remains a possibility: Reacher's line opens a lead, but it is not enough to establish how closely the production intends to follow the order of events in the books.
