Developers are still picking up the pieces

Rainbow Six Siege X Hacked: What Is Ubisoft Doing?
Segui Gamesurf su Google

Rainbow Six Siege X represents the most recent iteration of the tactical shooter developed by Ubisoft and inspired by the great Tom Clancy's books: we told you about it in this article. During the Christmas holidays, Siege X was hit by one of the most disruptive hacker attacks ever for a video game: cyber pirates took control of the system and committed various "pranks", including giving away millions of credits and rare skins to users, or banning developers' accounts.

Obviously, the act of cyber piracy had significant consequences. As for the players, many, after being showered with credits, stormed the in-game store, which was understandably blocked. As for Ubisoft, however, extensive damage was created, which weeks after the incident still shows its effects.

Rainbow Six Siege X: The Current Situation

With a message via Twitter/X, the Rainbow Six Siege X team provided an update regarding the game's restoration. Account rollbacks are progressing: it is necessary to ensure that all affected users have the correct items and the correct amount of credits in their accounts. It is not known when the operation will be completed: for now, no timelines are provided, but a new communication will arrive once the process is complete.

The marketplace remains offline for security reasons: the in-game store will only become available with the Year 11 update, which currently does not yet have a date (it could be released around March). More details will be provided in the coming weeks. Finally, to make amends, Ubisoft will provide compensation to all those who log in between January 16 and 25.
