Pokemon Pokopia Launches in March, Physical Edition Will Be a Game-Key Card
New trailer in a few days

Developers Game Freak and Koei Tecmo, and publisher The Pokémon Company have announced the release date for their Pokemon Pokopia. The bizarre life simulator starring a humanoid Ditto will debut exclusively on Switch 2 on March 5, 2026. Strangely, the physical edition of the title will be a game-key-card, meaning a cartridge that will only contain an activation key for the game, and you will have to download the entire files from the eShop (approximately 10GB).
This information emerged in a video just published on the official Nintendo channel, which explains how to use game-key cards, and the title used as an example is precisely Pokémon Pokopia. Nintendo itself announced a few months before the Switch 2 hit stores that it would not use this format for its first-party titles. Pokopia is not strictly first-party, given that The Pokémon Company is behind it and publishes the pocket monster games in Japan, but we are still talking about Pokémon. We hope it doesn't become a habit.
