Paranormal Activity 8 - James Wan to Co-Produce the Film
He will be joined by Jason Blum and series creator Oren Peli, director of the original

The horror franchise Paranormal Activity is preparing to return to the big screen with a new chapter overseen by Paramount and Blumhouse. The eighth film in the saga will also involve James Wan as co-producer, alongside Jason Blum and series creator Oren Peli, who was also the original director.
The direction of the new chapter has been entrusted to Ian Tuason, an emerging filmmaker who recently attracted attention with Undertone, a film acquired by A24 and set for distribution in the States next March. The theatrical release of Paranormal Activity 8 is already set for May 2027.
After 7 films, can it still be truly scary?

Undertone tells the story of Evy, a podcaster specializing in paranormal phenomena who moves into her dying mother's house to care for her. When she comes into possession of some audio recordings of a young couple tormented by mysterious supernatural noises, Evy discovers unsettling parallels with her own life, progressively being drawn into an inescapable destiny. This concept hints at why Tuason was chosen to revitalize a saga historically linked to suggested fear and invisible horror.
Commenting on his involvement, James Wan stated that he has always been a great admirer of the first Paranormal Activity, praising its slowly built tension and its ability to make the unseen terrifying. As he himself affirmed, the goal is to expand the franchise's legacy and guide its next evolution in the found footage horror landscape.
