Sony Pictures Classics has released the new official trailer for Nuremberg, a film written and directed by James Vanderbilt based on Jack El-Hai's book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist. After its debut at the Toronto Film Festival 2025, the work will arrive in theaters in November, promising an intense psychological look at the historic trial that marked the end of the Third Reich.

Set between 1945 and 1946, Nuremberg tells the story of the encounter between American Colonel psychiatrist Douglas Kelley (Rami Malek) and Nazi leader Hermann Göring (Russell Crowe), imprisoned awaiting judgment. From that confrontation arises an unsettling bond, a mental game that pushes Kelley to question the origin of evil and the fragility of human consciousness.

New film dedicated to the trial of the century

Alongside them is Michael Shannon, who plays the determined prosecutor Robert H. Jackson, resolved to give voice to the millions of victims of the Holocaust and to ensure justice in a courtroom charged with tension and ghosts of the past.

With a livid cinematography and a tone suspended between historical drama and psychological thriller, Vanderbilt suggests he has constructed a story of guilt, power, and obsession, where the line between understanding and complicity becomes increasingly thin. Nuremberg does not merely reconstruct a trial, but investigates the dark heart of man, reminding us that evil does not belong only to the past, but can always resurface.
