Masters of the Universe, the flop weighs on the saga's destiny
Among the voices who spoke out is Dolph Lundgren, star of the 1987 film

Critical reception was warmer than expected, but for Masters of the Universe, the box office response was quite different. The new live-action adaptation dedicated to He-Man closed its cinematic run with approximately 103 million dollars in worldwide gross, an insufficient result compared to expectations and production costs.
Supported by Amazon, the project may not have exhausted its possibilities, however. Its debut on Prime Video will represent an important test bed: strong subscriber engagement could convince the group to consider a second chapter, despite the disappointing box office performance.
Dolph Lundgren urges looking beyond the box office

Among the voices who spoke out is the great Dolph Lundgren, star of the 1987 film and present with a cameo in the new version. The actor admitted he was surprised by the financial results, but emphasized that the value of a work cannot be measured solely by box office earnings. According to Lundgren, some films have become cult classics many years after a lackluster debut, while other big successes are quickly forgotten.
The film's ending also leaves the door open for new narrative developments, introducing the first meeting between He-Man and She-Ra. An element that could become the starting point for expanding the universe of Eternia, should Amazon decide to grant the saga a second opportunity.
