Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Mammina, a supernatural horror film that brings Jessica Chastain back to the genre in a decidedly unusual role. The actress plays Ursula, a mother ready to do anything to protect her daughter, but at the same time embodies the mysterious creature that takes on her appearance to infiltrate the family's life.

Directed by Rob Savage (Host), the film builds tension on the loss of trust in those closest to you. The footage avoids revealing too much of the plot, preferring to fuel a sense of unease through seemingly innocuous domestic situations that progressively transform into a nightmare

From the novel by Josh Malerman

Among the most striking sequences are the disarticulated creature in the kitchen and a surreal encounter inside a car full of colorful balls, images that hint at the tone of the work. Mammina is based on Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman, author of Bird Box. The screenplay is written by Nathan Elston, while James Wan is among the executive producers along with Malerman himself and Rob Savage. The cast also includes Arabella Olivia Clark, Jay Duplass, Dichen Lachman, Arian Moyaed, and Karen Allen.

Produced by Atomic Monster, Blumhouse, and Spin a Black Yarn for Universal Pictures, Mammina will arrive in Italian cinemas on October 8, 2026, in time for the Halloween season.
