Highlander Reboot - Production Halted, Anticipation Grows
The actor, on forced hiatus, shared the physical look and style of his Connor McLeod

The Highlander reboot has hit a snag, but it's not stopping. Amazon MGM has gone all-in on Henry Cavill as the protagonist, a choice that seems to have won over many long-time fans. After portraying Superman and participating in sagas like Mission Impossible, the British actor is preparing to lead the cult franchise in its renewal phase.

The film is directed by Chad Stahelski, director of the acclaimed first John Wick, who described Highlander as “a work capable of uniting historical epic, science fiction, and immortal love stories.”
Filming began in January 2025 in Scotland and continued smoothly until September, when Cavill suffered an injury during training. This forced production to suspend work, which will resume in January 2026.
Production Aiming High

Before the halt, the actor shared the first images from the set on social media, showcasing the physical look and new style of his Connor McLeod, although the costume remains a secret.
The cast is not limited to Cavill: alongside him will be Russell Crowe and Dave Bautista, while the main antagonist will be played by Jeremy Irons. Famous for voicing Scar in The Lion King and for his villainous roles in Die Hard, Assassin’s Creed, and Watchmen, the actor aims for a memorable enemy.

These premises confirm how much the new Highlander aims to become a global blockbuster.
