Set in the Alpine landscape, the film tells the story of Heidi's serene life with her grandfather, until the girl finds and rescues an injured lynx cub, which she decides to name Pepper. However, this act brings her into conflict with the plans of industrialist Schnaittinger, who intends to build a sawmill that threatens to destroy the surrounding nature. With the help of her friend Peter and the dog Joseph, Heidi embarks on a journey to return Pepper to his family and protect the fragile balance of the Alpine ecosystem.
Between adventure, friendship, and reflections on the relationship between humans and the environment, Heidi – A New Adventure reinterprets a classic of children's literature in a contemporary key, while maintaining the spirit of the original story.
