Halo: Campaign Evolved Launches Today, Also on PlayStation 5
The remake of the first legendary chapter of the saga has arrived
On November 15, 2001, the first Xbox console was released in the United States, accompanied by a game destined to remain etched in collective memory: Halo: Combat Evolved. This first-person shooter established itself as a true killer application, and its protagonist, Master Chief, became a sort of mascot for Xbox, not unlike Mario and Sonic for Nintendo and Sega.
Almost 25 years have passed, and the Halo-Xbox pairing still endures in the collective imagination of gamers, despite the fact that Microsoft's gaming division, as well as gaming in general, have profoundly changed in the meantime. The first chapter of the saga is revived in Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake in Unreal Engine 5 created by Halo Studios and faithful to the original. As the name suggests, it focuses on the campaign, which can be played solo or in cooperative multiplayer.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is released today, July 28, 2026. Naturally, you can find it on Xbox Series X|S and PC (Xbox PC, Steam), but also on PlayStation 5: this is the first time a Halo title has landed on the main competitor's console. Furthermore, it is available from day one on the Game Pass service. In our opinion, it is a good remake, although perhaps it didn't dare enough: we explain it better in our Campaign Evolved review.
