What is Future Boy Conan?

Future Boy Conan is the only television series entirely directed by Miyazaki, who also held a central creative role in the 1978 project, handling character design, storyboarding, and set design. After its original broadcast in Japan on NHK, the series arrived in Italy in 1981, quickly establishing itself as a benchmark for multiple generations of viewers.

The plot of Future Boy Conan

Set in a post-apocalyptic world marked by a global catastrophe, the story follows the adventures of Conan, a boy raised on the Lost Island with his grandfather. His encounter with Lana, a girl fleeing Indastria, kicks off a journey through hostile territories and cities dominated by technology. The narrative alternates adventure with broader reflections on the relationship between progress, power, and human responsibility, anticipating themes that would strongly reappear in Miyazaki's later films.

When is Future Boy Conan coming to cinemas?

Future Boy Conan – 45th TV Anniversary, which includes the final episodes of the series, will be in cinemas only on February 9, 10, and 11, as part of Animagine, a collection born from the collaboration between Dynit and Adler Entertainment.
