Jeff the Killer will star in a new horror film developed by Savannah Moss alongside independent studio Tongal, marking the cinematic debut of one of the most famous characters born from the creepypasta phenomenon.
Already known for her surreal and unsettling videos, Moss will produce the project with Mark Korshak and Michael McKay. The stated goal is to transform the character into a more realistic big-screen story, without losing the connection to the phenomenon that made him famous online.
Jeff the Killer began circulating in the late 2000s through stories and images shared on the web. His pale face, mouth distorted into an unnatural smile, and the famous «Go to sleep» quickly helped transform him into one of the icons of Internet-born horror.
From Viral Phenomenon to the Big Screen
The new production is not expected to be limited to reproducing the image that became famous online. Jeff's story has been modified and expanded countless times by users, leaving ample room for a new cinematic interpretation. Tongal considers the project part of a growing interest in online horror folklore. The success of Backrooms has shown how much these ideas can attract audiences even outside the internet.
