After its excellent box office results, Backrooms is preparing to return to US theaters with an extended version. A24 and director Kane Parsons will distribute Backrooms: Everything Must Go Edition, which will debut in AMC US theaters on July 3.

This new edition will include exclusive post-credits content, with approximately 15 minutes of additional footage by Parsons himself. The film's total runtime will thus increase to 2 hours and 6 minutes.

The Extended Cut in Theaters Before Home Video

The move comes as Backrooms continues to record very high box office numbers, already making it the second highest-grossing horror film of 2026 and aiming for the top spot. The July 4 holiday weekend could provide a new boost, although competition in theaters remains particularly fierce.

The film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as furniture store owner Cap'n Clark's Ottoman Empire, who discovers a mysterious door in the showroom's basement. His exploration leads him into an unsettling liminal space, transforming curiosity into a nightmare inspired by the famous creepypasta phenomenon. Renate Reinsve is also in the cast.

Backrooms marks Kane Parsons' feature film directorial debut, following his popular series of short films published on YouTube in 2022, which garnered over 190 million views. The screenplay is by Will Soodik. It is very likely that we will only see the extended edition on Home Video.
