Final Fantasy VII, the original on Steam is about to be replaced by a new version
The 2013 edition will no longer be available for purchase

Square Enix has announced that it will soon release a new version of the original Final Fantasy VII on Steam. We don't know the reasons, nor the actual changes, other than a generic "improved gameplay experience," or a hypothetical date for the event, so we'll have to wait a bit longer to find out more.
The original Final Fantasy VII will be rereleased on Steam to provide an improved gameplay experience.

Those who already own this classic JRPG on Steam will receive the updated version for free and will be able to continue playing the old one without problems; however, the 2013 edition will no longer be available for purchase. Save data will also not be compatible between the two versions.
