Final Fantasy VII Remake and its sequel Final Fantasy VII Rebirth brought one of the most beloved chapters of the saga of crystals – FFVII, precisely – back to our screens, but as you probably know, the work is not yet complete: the game that debuted in 1997 on the first PlayStation was in fact split into 3 parts, the third of which is still missing.

After the launch of Remake in 2020 and the wait for Rebirth in 2024 – on the subsequent console generation – it is legitimate to wonder when we will get the third "Re-" [some fear it might be destined for PS6, which would anger many fans who have already had to change hardware from one chapter to the next]. Fortunately, the time seems ripe for at least an announcement, or at least that's what Tetsuya Nomura, co-creator of the series and collaborator since the original FFVII, has ventured to say.

Nomura: FFVII Soon to Be Announced, KH4 in Development

During a videopodcast for the second anniversary of the spin-off Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, Nomura spoke as follows: "From the comments, I see that people often ask about the third part of the Remake series. Apparently Toriyama [Motomu, co-director] mentioned in an interview that something could be communicated on this anniversary. So probably the expectations stem from that. Things are progressing really well. I can't say more. If I said 'well, actually...' everyone would be surprised! So yes: things are progressing very well and the release window has already been decided. We are currently proceeding according to that schedule. So, please, be calm and be patient."

Subsequently, Nomura also opened up about another highly anticipated title from his workshop, namely Kingdom Hearts 4: "The game is progressing steadily as planned, so please stay tuned."
