Fantastic Four – Clues about the sequel
No official announcement, but all signs point in the same direction

Marvel doesn't always announce its plans loudly; often, it lets them filter through. And it's precisely in this strategic silence that Fantastic Four 2 is transitioning from a distant hypothesis to a more concrete possibility.
The first film Fantastic Four - First Steps wasn't a viral phenomenon, but it hit the right notes. Over 520 million dollars at the global box office, 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, and strong audience approval made it the second most-watched comic book movie of 2025. These numbers, in the current MCU context, are worth more than an isolated record, representing solidity and trust.
Marvel seems to be focusing on a less noisy but more enduring strategy. The '60s retro-futurist identity worked, the characters convinced as a group, and the audience welcomed them without resistance. These are fundamental elements for building a saga.
Low profile to reach the sequel

The real accelerator will come with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. According to various rumors, the Fantastic Four will play a central role in both films. Historically, their presence in ensemble Avengers films has always strengthened individual franchises. After two events of this magnitude, a second dedicated adventure would become almost inevitable.
Another key piece is Matt Shakman. Marvel would like to bring him back to direct, strong in the balance he showed between style, characters, and emotions, already seen in WandaVision and confirmed with First Steps. With an MCU ready to redefine itself after Secret Wars, Fantastic Four 2 could be one of the first films of Marvel's "new present."
