Fans of the Evil Dead franchise can prepare for a new dose of blood and horror, although the film arriving in theaters will not represent the most extreme vision imagined by director Sébastien Vaniek. The filmmaker has revealed that he had to modify at least one particularly gruesome sequence to obtain an “R - Restricted” rating (severely restricted to minors under 17 unless accompanied by an adult), implying that the original cut was well beyond the permitted limits.

According to Vaniek, one scene was so intense that it required mandatory cuts to satisfy the Motion Picture Association. The goal was to find a balance that would allow the film to be released in theaters without completely abandoning its ferocious nature, even if the final result will inevitably be less harsh than the version initially conceived.

Even the trailer is considered unsuitable for younger audiences

The good news for fans is that the director has already stated his hope to release the Director's Cut for Home Video in the future, described in no uncertain terms as much more brutal than the theatrical cut.

Despite these interventions, Evil Dead Burn is already being presented as one of the wildest installments in the entire saga. The story will follow a woman who, after her husband's death, takes refuge in her in-laws' isolated house, where a series of demonic possessions will transform the family reunion into a true nightmare. The release in Italian cinemas is set for July 8, 2026.
