Edge of Memories: New Trailer Focuses on Story

During the Galaxies Gaming Showcase, NACON and its Montpellier-based studio in southern France, Midgar Studio, were pleased to unveil a brand-new narrative trailer for the French-made JRPG Edge of Memories, highlighting key aspects of the game's universe, characters, and themes.

With its artistic style inspired by French animation, combined with Japanese anime aesthetics and a compelling storyline crafted in collaboration with writer Sawako Natori (NieR), Edge of Memories pays homage to the JRPG genre by exploring universal themes: the exodus of peoples, a world afflicted by disease, the search for origins, and the necessity to adapt to an ever-evolving environment.

The world of Heryon has long been ravaged by the Corrosion, a plague that transforms both wildlife and humans into monstrosities. On the continent of Avaris, nomadic peoples once spared from this horror now face extinction. Eline, a young wandering Soul Whisperer, travels through the wildlands to help those suffering, but her destiny drastically changes when she discovers a power born from the Corrosion within herself. This gift allows her to transform into the Black Beast, unleashing devastating force and inflicting merciless executions upon her enemies.

Alongside Ysoris, her unlikely mentor, and Kanta, a shaman prince from a lost tribe, the heroes embark on a perilous journey to save a dying world, confront formidable threats, and uncover the truth behind the plague. Their epic odyssey will take them across Avaris, where sinister enemies await: Ziegler, a mysterious figure wielding power linked to the Corrosion, and the Apex, a divine emissary who claims to see both the future and the past. They will also face the Sanctorium, a ruthless religious and magical order whose authority dominates Avaris. Obsessed with cruel experiments on the Corrosion, they exploit desperate human guinea pigs to escape the despair of their people.

Edge of Memories will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam) in 2026.
