Death Howl Gets Even Harder with Rebirth and Custom Mode
Two new modes for those who want to face more challenging runs
Death Howl is a game that combines grid-based tactics and deckbuilding, with a ruthless battle setup inspired by soulslikes. In our review, we appreciated the game's dark and disturbing identity, conveyed by its deliberately imperfect pixel art, and the depth of the combat system; however, the marked repetitiveness negatively affected the final judgment. The game's new update addresses the problem by making the experience more varied, at least in new runs.
Rebirth and Custom Modes
The new Death Howl update introduces two new modes to the game. The first is called Rebirth Mode and unlocks after completing a run: here all enemies have different abilities and extra HP. Furthermore, all Realmless cards are different, with new names and functionalities. Rebirth Mode is designed specifically for those looking for a greater challenge in their second playthrough.

The second mode is called Custom Mode: as the name suggests, it allows you to customize various parameters, including card types, enemy and Ro's HP, penalties, etc... Custom Mode unlocks after completing Rebirth Mode and grants access to Death Howl's maximum difficulty. In addition to the two modes, the update also brings seven new Totems, rebalances to cards and enemies, plus a bunch of bug fixes. You can find the complete changelog on Steam.
