Clayface, New Trailer Reveals Matt Hagen's Tragedy

The line between man and monster becomes increasingly thin in Clayface, a DC Studios film that brings Matt Hagen's transformation to the big screen. The final trailer focuses primarily on the protagonist's deterioration, showing a body that progressively loses its form as his perception of reality begins to crumble.

Portrayed by Tom Rhys Harries, Hagen is an actor whose career is destroyed after falling victim to a criminal's actions. Disfigured and abandoned, he agrees to undergo an experimental procedure that allows him to regain his lost face. However, the result proves to be anything but miraculous.

Horror Starts with the Man

The film seems to want to postpone the complete transformation as much as possible, so much so that Clayface's definitive appearance continues not to be openly shown. A choice that could make the cinematic reveal particularly impactful.

James Watkins directs the film from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. The cast also includes Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, and Eddie Marsan. The story is set in Gotham, but Batman is not expected to physically appear. The connection to the DCU remains, however, also through Clayface's previous presence in Creature Commandos.
