Chronoscript: The Endless End is DeskWorks' new Metroidvania
An adventure between books and ink
Chronoscript: The Endless End was probably the most original announcement at yesterday evening's State of Play: the title developed by DeskWorks Inc, on behalf of SHUEISHA Games, presents itself as a classic two-dimensional Metroidvania, but accompanied by a particularly captivating graphic style.
The protagonist of the story is an editor sent to the villa owned by a long-deceased writer with the task of analyzing a manuscript, and there, for some bizarre reason, he finds himself imprisoned within the pages of the manuscript itself, which are scattered around the house. To escape, he must retrace the endless story and finally reach an ending.
As we mentioned, what particularly struck us about Chronoscript: The Endless End is the graphic style that alternates between exploring the writer's villa and the exploration, combat, and jumping phases within the manuscript, rendered in a very fascinating and detailed style. In addition to the various characters of the story, the yellowed pages will feature ink stains with effects yet to be discovered, or enemies embodied by insects and other real-world parasites.
Chronoscript: The Endless End is announced for PC and PS5 with a release set for a generic 2026.
