The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles were released a week apart from each other, in November 2013. In 2026, they will therefore be 13 years old, which in video game terms corresponds approximately to two entire generations. Given these premises, the fact that some developers still manage to support PS4 or One is somewhat touching, but for new productions, it becomes increasingly difficult to accommodate the needs of such obsolete hardware while simultaneously offering cutting-edge technical features.

Call of Duty Breaks Free from the Old Gen

Until last year, the Call of Duty franchise was offered on both the current and previous generations of consoles, but for Activision, the time has also come to break free from the old gen: a message on Twitter/X specifies that the next CoD will not be developed for PlayStation 4, silencing a rumor that claimed the opposite. We can deduce that the shooter will also miss its appointment with Xbox One. For the Call of Duty franchise, this is the second major news in recent weeks, after its departure from Game Pass.
