Netflix did not fail to surprise by releasing the first teaser for the second season of Blue Eye Samurai. There is no release date yet, but the message is clear: more blood, more revenge, and a journey that will take the protagonist far from Japan.

Acclaimed with 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, the animated series was one of Netflix's revelations in 2023. Set in the Edo period, it tells the story of Mizu (voiced by Maya Erskine), a warrior ostracized for her blue eyes, who wields her sword driven by anger and a desire for justice.

Even More Graphic Adventure, Outside Japan

After confronting her enemies at home, the first season finale saw her set sail for Europe. Creator Amber Noizumi has anticipated that the new narrative arc will lead to an unprecedented cultural confrontation, with Mizu forced to contend with a world she considers hostile and, in turn, ready to challenge every prejudice.

The original voice cast remains stellar: in addition to Erskine, George Takei, Masi Oka, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Brenda Song, Randall Park, Kenneth Branagh return, along with Stephanie Hsu, Ming-Na Wen, Harry Shum Jr., and Mark Dacascos.

Visually, the second season promises even more ambitious animation and fight choreography like dances of steel. Producers Michael Green, Amber Noizumi, and Jane Wu have guaranteed continuity with the style that made the first season unique.
