Below, the new Netflix horror hides its creature

Netflix has released the new trailer for Below, but its main attraction remains completely off-screen: the mysterious sea creature terrorizing a Newfoundland town. Here too, the images from the horror series created by Jesse McKeown keep the mysterious creature in the shadows that terrorizes an isolated community in Newfoundland.

At the center of the story is the fisherman played by Josh Hartnett, forced to defend his family and the town's inhabitants as something unknown emerges from the waters. The series will consist of 6 episodes and will debut on the platform on October 8.

Echoes from the cinema of Carpenter and Spielberg

The trailer's atmosphere openly looks to the cinema of John Carpenter and Steven Spielberg, with references that bring to mind Jaws, The Fog, and The Thing. The result, however, seems decidedly oriented towards horror, without the more ironic component present in other recent television productions inspired by the same authors.

The cast, alongside Hartnett, includes Charlie Heaton, Mackenzie Davis, Rohan Campbell, Ruby Stokes, Kaleb Horn, and Willow Kean. What makes the project even more intriguing is precisely the choice not to reveal the threat. No shot of the creature appears in the official trailer, leaving the setting and the characters' fear to suggest what is coming.
