Absolum: A Trailer Explains Gameplay Details
Everything you need to know about the new side-scrolling brawler

Dotemu, Guard Crush, and Supamonks have released a new trailer for Absolum, sharing key gameplay information with fans. This title is a 2D beat 'em up with roguelike elements; in fact, its creators call it a "rogue 'em up". Absolum is set in Talahm, a medieval fantasy world where four outcast heroes embark on a journey to overthrow the tyranny of the Sun King Azra.
Absolum's Gameplay
Players can tackle Absolum's campaign solo or in cooperative multiplayer. Across the various levels, you'll encounter common enemies, mini-bosses, and of course, more lethal bosses to defeat; as you progress, opponents will grow stronger. Naturally, heroes can also be powered up with coins collected in levels, which allow for purchasing various upgrades from vendors.
Absolum will offer a respectable repertoire of moves: alongside the usual normal attacks, there's a range of special moves such as the effective Arcana or the devastating Ultimate abilities. There are also Mounts, which could prove particularly enjoyable: a series of creatures to ride, each equipped with a specific attack to unleash against mobs.
Absolum's Characters
The four available heroes possess unique characteristics and movesets, allowing players to choose the one best suited to their playstyle:
- Karl - A resilient, brawling dwarf
- Cider - An elegant acrobatic fighter
- Galandra - A balanced swordsman
- Brome - A ranged mage
Absolum will be published by Dotemu on October 9, 2025. You'll be able to take on the tyrannical Azra on PlayStation 4 and 5, Switch, and PC via Steam.
